Class Descriptions


Ballet I
    age 6-9, 7-10

    This is a fundamentals class where students are taught basic Ballet technique and terminology.  Ballet barre work and center work is done in a traditional manner to increase understanding of ballet and prepare for advanced levels.  No prior experience required; however, the student will be evaluated in the first class to verify a good fit.

Ballet II/III
    age 10-18

    For intermediate to advanced dancers.  This class builds on Ballet II curriculum with a focus on learning advanced steps, refining technique, and building strength through a traditional Ballet class structure.  Evaluation required.

Ballet Minis
    age 2-3

    This class is an introduction to the world of Ballet and basic movement skills.  Dancers learn Ballet terminology, choreography, and technique.

Ballet/Hip Hop
    age 3-5, 3-4, 5-6

    Students learn Ballet and Hip Hop terminology to classical and top 40 hit music.  This combo class focuses on Ballet and then moves to Hip Hop.

Ballet/Tap
    age 2-3, 3-4, 3-5, 4-6, 5-7

    Students learn Ballet and Tap terminology to classical and modern music.  This combo class focuses on Ballet and then moves to Tap.  See also - Pre-Ballet/Tap.

Cheer/Hip Hop
    age 5-7

    This high energy class fuses Pom routines and Hip Hop choreography.  Dance with poms to the latest pop music.

Commercial Jazz
    age 10-18

    Highly choreographed, fast paced advanced class.  Commercial Jazz features a mixture of sharp and fluid movements, popping & locking, and animated expression similar to dances seen on commercial video clips.

Contemporary/Lyrical
    age 7-14

    This class is an introduction to Contemporary and Lyrical dance styles, interpreting the lyrics of a song through movement.  Technique, flexibility, and musicality are the focus.

Contemporary/Lyrical II/III
    age 10-18

    This intermediate/advanced class focuses on the style and technique of Contemporary dance, with a Lyrical focus.  Students learn floor warm-ups inspired by Martha Graham and develop technique and musicality through center and across-the-floor work.  Evaluation required.

Drill Team/Pom Prep
    age 10-18

    This technique class is designed to prepare dancers for drill team and pom squad auditions, focusing on stretching, flexibility, proper kick technique, turns, leaps, etiquette, poise, and audition tips.

Fairytale Favorites
    age 2-3, 3-4

    Dancers learn Ballet terminology, choreography, and technique through acting, dancing, and singing.  Students use props, songs, and storybooks to recreate fairytale favorites.

Hip Hop
    age 6-10, 7-10

    Students develop technical skills in a high energy fun-filled environment, incorporating the latest choreography to today's top 40 hits. All music is edited and age appropriate.

Hip Hop I/II
    age 10-15

    For beginner to intermediate dancers.  This class focuses on learning steps and building strength through Hip Hop choreography.

Jazz I
    age 6-10

    Students develop basic Jazz technique and skills in a fun, energetic and encouraging environment.  This class focuses on turns including chaines, piques, and pirouettes as well as leaps, walks, and styles.  No prior experience required; however, the student will be evaluated in the first class to verify a good fit.

Jazz II/III
    age 10-18

    Learn intermediate to advanced technique and Jazz styles.  Turns, leaps, and strengthening are main components to center work and across-the-floor combinations.  Evaluation required.

Jazz/Tap
    age 4-6

    Students learn beginner Jazz and Tap terminology and technique in this high-energy class.  Students will warm up, move across the floor, and learn choreography to popular music.

Musical Theater/Jazz
    age 4-6

    There's no business like show business!  Learn the best of Broadway, Voice, and Theatrical Jazz dance while developing performance skills.

Pointe
    age 10-18

    A solid foundation of intermediate Ballet technique is required for Pointe.  Dancers refine their technique and build strength through basic barre and center work.  Dancers begin in flat shoes and transition to Pointe shoes once approved.  Must also register for Ballet II/III, immediately preceding this class.  Evaluation required.

Pre-Ballet
    age 5-7, 5-6

    Students learn Ballet technique and terminology in this fundamentals class.  Barre and center work are introduced in preparation for Ballet I.

Tap II/III
    age 10-18

    In this intermediate to advanced level Tap class, dancers learn choreography incorporating a variety of steps and turns.  Steps include single, double, triple and quadruple time steps, Irish steps, Cincinnati's, and wings.  Turns include buffalo, paradiddle, max ford, and toe stand turns.  Evaluation required.

Technique, Turns & Leaps
    age 10-18

    Students develop advanced technical skills in Jazz, Ballet, and Contemporary technique, as well as turns and leaps.  The focus is on alignment, strength & flexibility exercises, and movement.  This is a great class for dancers preparing for dance teams, companies, and other troupes. This class will not participate in the Showcase or Recital.

Teen/Adult Ballet
    age 15-adult

    This Ballet class includes traditional barre, center work, and across the floor movement, as well as conditioning exercises for the Ballet body. All levels welcome.

Teen/Adult Contemporary/Lyrical
    age 15-adult

    This class is an introduction to Contemporary and Lyrical dance styles, interpreting the lyrics of a song through movement.  Technique, flexibility, and musicality are the focus.  All levels welcome.

Teen/Adult Hip Hop
    age 15-adult

    In this upbeat class dancers develop skills in high-energy movement and technique, work on conditioning for strength and flexibility, and create Hip Hop choreography to fun, top 40 hits!  All levels welcome.

Teen/Adult Tap
    age 15-adult

    Join us in a fun, relaxed environment where we tap to Broadway and Top 40 music.  Learn steps and choreography.  All levels welcome.

Tots N Tutus
    age 18m-2

    This class is an introduction to the world of Ballet and basic movement skills.  Dancers learn Ballet terminology through creative movement and manipulative play.  A parent or trusted grown-up participates.
