Hilary Files

Owner, Business Director

Hilary Files is life-long amateur singer, dancer, and musician. As a child she participated in the children's choirs and musicals at church, while taking ballet and piano lessons. Through her teen years she played the flute in the band and sang in school choirs. She learned guitar and sang at the Hometown Opry in Pasadena, TX. She was a lifeguard and a swim team coach, and she taught swim lessons and tutored girls in math. On weekends she learned to country dance. Hilary attended Rice University in Houston, where she took voice lessons and learned ballroom and swing. She taught dance lessons to her peers and played a cigar girl in “Damn Yankees.” She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Electrical Engineering and went on to work as a chip designer, project manager, and business operations manager at Agilent Technologies, Hewlett-Packard, and Intel. Meanwhile she volunteered doing science experiments with disadvantaged elementary students, taught a high school course in chip design, and edited resumes for college students. At church she sang in the choir and led songs with the praise team.

Currently Hilary shares her love of music and dance with her daughter and son. She still sings in the church choir and helps direct the children's choir. She is excited to be a part of Put Art In Your Heart, where her daughter has taken dance since it opened in Austin, and her son is a hip hop "shortie." As someone who chose a primary discipline in a field outside of art, she believes her life experience has been truly enhanced by fine arts.
